Welcome to the Conservation Council's
Website for Gungahlin Residents
This website is being developed as part of the Conservation Council's Community Engagement at the Bush/Urban Interface project, with support from the Bush on the Boundary Reference Group. If you would like to be informed of updates to the site, local events and other interesting information relevant to the Gungahlin region, please sign up to our monthly e-newsletter.
The Community Engagement project aims to assist the Gungahlin community to become aware of, and involved in, conservation of Mulligans Flat and Goorooyarroo Nature Reserves, particularly with rapid suburban development taking place so near the reserves. The project also endeavours to increase sustainable living practices amongst Gungahlin residents, through the provision of education, information and community-building activities.
The Bush on the Boundary Reference Group includes various stakeholders who have an interest in the Gungahlin Environment. See Member Organisations for a full list of stakeholders, their roles and activities.

April Forum
Reptiles and urban development
With urban development continuing to sprawl into natural areas it is obvious to see the damage to woodlands and grasslands. What about the inhabitants of these areas such as our reptiles that we don't see? What happens to them and can they survive in suburbs or on the fringe of suburbs?
Come and join this months Member Forum which will discuss the impacts of urban development and the effect it has on reptiles.
When: April 28th, 5:30 for 6pm
Where: Canberra Reptile Sanctuary, O'Hanlon Pl, Gold Creek Village, Nicholls.
Speakers: Dr Will Osborne (UC) - Reasearch on the Pink-tailed worm lizard in Molonglo and the impact of urban development on other reptiles
Dustin Welbourne (Chief Scientist, Canberra Reptile Sanctuary (Inc) ) - Will speak and show us around the sanctuary.
As this is a special forum and places are limited so please register your interest before April 21.
